Viriditas, a word made up by the 12th Century Rhine mystic, Hildegard of Bingen, means "greening power"
For the air lives in its green power and its blossoming; the waters flow as if they were alive. Even the sun is alive in its own light; and when the moon is on the point of disappearing, it is kindled by the sun, so that it lives, as it were, afresh.
