ABOUT THIS DESIGN
Woodland Fox is the cunning shape-shifter creature of the woodlands. Owl is the solitary wise bird of the night, whose keen sight penetrates the darkness as Squirrel collects the sacred nuts from the Oak Tree – doorway to the Mysteries. Woodpecker’s sharp beak taps into the Tree of Life for sustenance as the timid yet resourceful Mice peep out from their burrow in Mother Earth, carrying her secrets from the Underworld….

Our Fine Art tapestries are produced in North Carolina, USA, using Jacquard looms to weave high-quality cotton yarns into detailed, textured designs. These tapestries are made by weaving approximately eight miles of thread per item, creating a permanent, durable image that is not printed. They are hand-finished in a family-owned mill and feature a rod pocket for hanging.

Displaying and Preservation

  • Hanging: Use the sewn in rod pocket for a hanging/finial rod – many choices available at hardware or big box stores.
  • Environment: Keep away from direct, harsh sunlight to prevent fading.

Key Aspects of Production:

  • Woven, Not Printed: Unlike low-quality alternatives, these tapestries are woven, which creates a tangible, three-dimensional texture.
  • Jacquard Looms: The designs are created on automated Jacquard looms that interpret digital designs into complex weaving patterns.
  • Material: The primary material used is cotton yarn, which is chosen for comfort and quality.
  • Hand-Finished: After leaving the loom, experts cut and sew each piece by hand.
  • Durability: The finished products are durable, pre-washed, and safe for both washing machines and dryers.
  • Quality Control: The weaving process allows for the creation of intricate designs that offer a, “50-year” lasting quality

CARE

  • Care for jacquard woven fine art tapestries by dusting or vacuuming gently with low suction and a brush attachment 1-2 times annually.
  • Prevent damage by keeping them out of direct sunlight and in low-humidity areas.
  • Professional dry cleaning is recommended for stains, though gentle hand washing with cold water and mild detergent is possible.
  • Spot Cleaning: Address stains immediately by dabbing gently with a slightly damp cloth and mild soap (e.g., Woolite); avoid scrubbing.
  • Professional Care: For valuable or delicate pieces, use a professional dry cleaner specializing in delicate textiles.
  • Handling: Always handle with clean, dry hands to prevent transferring oils to the fabric.
  • Storage: Store in a cool, dry place wrapped in cotton or linen; avoid plastic bags which can trap moisture and cause mildew.
  • Ironing: If needed, iron only on low to medium heat, preferably from the back side, or use a cloth between the iron and the tapestry to protect the fibers.
